Swartz Creek Homecoming 2007! It's Homecoming Dragon Style!!!
2008 Seniors Do It Again at Powder Puff.
There is no doubt about it, The senior Class of 2008 are the undefeated powder puff champions. Last year the class of 2008, as juniors defeated the favored senior team in an emotional upset with a win of 26 to 22 and set the stage for back to back wins. This year the junior class of 2009 had little chance against the power house of players the senior class fielded. With one win under there belt the senior girls knew what to expect and how to get the job done. These girls were serious about there game. Powder puff practice for the class of 2008 has always been about winning. Watching these girls practice for powder puff is much like watching the boys regular football practice, thanks to their coaches how are all members of the football team. Stretching, warm up, laps and then breaking into individual groups where the girls learn and practice their required skill for the game and finishing with a scrimmage or two made this team the powerhouse they have become. Even on the night of powder puff these girls slipped in another practice just before the game. They have left no doubt in anyone's mind that proper diligent practice pays off on game day. Congratulations to the Powder Puff Girls of the Class of 2008 for two years of great football.
Pride and Spirit Night. Wednesday night September 18th, saw the annual Pride and Spirit night for the Dragons. It was a night designed for the community to become involved and join in the festivities of homecoming. Cheerleaders, Poms, fall teams, The Marching Band, The Varsity Football team, and Homecoming Court all made for a traditional Dragons event that is sheer spectacle. Thanks go out to Swartz Creek Athletic boosters and in particular to Liz Studer who organized the event. Whatever the age of a player or participant from the youth leagues and cheerleaders through high school, Swartz Creek fans where treated to a glimpse of the teams of today and the teams of tomorrow.
2007 Homecoming Court is announced at Pride and Spirit.
Homecoming Pep Rally Fires Up Dragons for Game.
Last hour Friday afternoon the high school gym was the place to be as the Dragon Pep Rally kicked off Homecoming Day 2007. The entire student body of Swartz Creek high school along with parents, faculty and staff piled into the gym for this annual event of school spirit. As classes participated against one another in relay games like the office chair race or the tricycle relay the outcome was clear, Creek knows how to have a good time and a great school spirit. Building class to class from the Freshman to the Seniors the master of ceremonies called for each class to let out a school cheer for there class. The loudest? As we might guess were the Seniors have defended their win at Powder Puff and anticipating the win over Clio that night were fired up. The Marching Band provided the rhythm and school song to the throng of the student body's refrain. By the time the rally was complete it was clear Swartz Creek was about to have one great homecoming as the students enthusiasm spilled over onto the streets and into the community during the parade.
The Homecoming Parade. The homecoming parade for 2007 saw some of the most perfect weather for any parade in downtown Swartz Creek in years. With clear skies, bright sun and warm temperatures both spectators and participants alike enjoyed one of the best ever Homecoming Parades down Miller Road. Officer Ken Semanski of the Swartz Creek Police Department lead the parade on its route from the staging grounds at the track to the high school parking lot. The Dragons Marching Band and Color Guard gave an exceptional performance under the lead of Senior Field Commander Nathan Irby. From the elementary schools, youth football and cheerleaders to the high school teams, exchange students and homecoming court this years Homecoming parade had a little something for everyone. If you missed it just have a look below.
Homecoming Queen Crowned.
Swartz Creek High School classes had some hard decisions to make in the last few weeks since school started, who to nominate and vote for to represent their class in homecoming court. In the larger picture who would become this years Homecoming Queen. With the top 7 nominations from the under-classmen and the top 10 nominations from the Senior class ballots were distributed to students and votes were cast. The Freshman, Sophomore and Junior classes each elected three princesses to represent them on court while the Senior class elected 5. With all of the voting done this years Homecoming Queen was announced during the half-time show at the Homecoming game. Swartz Creek's 2007 Homecoming Queen in Nicole Culver. Dragons Hammer Mustangs at Homecoming.
Home field advantage is one thing but homecoming home field advantage is another. Last Friday nights game saw the Clio Mustangs take to the grid iron in the face of the mighty Swartz Creek Dragons home field for homecoming. With the field surrounded by floats depicting the defeat of the Mustangs and the pageantry of homecoming court, the battle on the old grid iron was an up hill battle for the Mustangs as the Dragons hammered in field goals to rack up an impressive victory. The Dragons were playing this game for keeps as they showed off both their running and passing games in offense as well as an impressive defense that frustrated the mustangs attempts to gain goals. The final score was Swartz Creek 39 Clio 21.
Swartz Creek Homecoming 2006 Homecoming Dance Pics! Scroll down! Diane L. Green Photography LLC in Swartz Creek Announces 2009 Senior Model Search Diane L. Green Photography LLC of Swartz Creek my want you. For the first time their photography studio is providing an open senior modeling competition to area high school juniors of the the 2007-2008 school year. Previously the studio had invited only students they knew personally to participate. Diane explains " This year we have had a great deal of interest from parents and seniors about how we choose our models for advertising. While we are local to Swartz Creek and have concentrated our advertising and service on the Swartz Creek community we have had seniors from Grand Blanc, Linden, Bentley, Kearsley, Flushing, Mt. Morris, Durand, Flint, Carmen-Ainsworth and Fenton this year. It was very surprising since we hadn't advertised in any of those areas directly. As we are seeing students from those schools we wanted to include them as well. The idea of a model search just seemed logical. We have had a lot of fun and success photographing this years models at Dow Gardens and Mackinac Island. We have already planned next years locations at Dow Gardens, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Grand Haven and down town Chicago." Students interested in becoming a model for the studio must have parental consent, and submit an application (available at their website) along with one head and shoulder and one full length snap shot. "We are looking for a cross-section of students for our 2009 advertising that represent the many different styles students express today." If you are interested in becoming a senior model for the studio you can visit their website at www.dg-pics.com/seniors.html or contact the studio by phone at 810-496-3498.
Homecoming Dance is a time to remember. Swartz Creek high school held its annual Homecoming dance September 30th 2006. Of the many events in high school life that allow us to share time together with friends we have just 4 Homecoming dances in all of our high school years. Our students at Swartz Creek certainly did not waist this one as can be seen in the photo composite below. The theme for Homecoming this year may have been Willy Wonka's chocolate factory but the dance floor in the gym was a sea of color and motion as about 1000 attending students danced the night away.
Pep Rally at the High School
Swartz Creek High School held its annual homecoming pep rally in the gym Friday afternoon. Showing pride and spirit for our home team the fearless Dragons. In the series of images above scenes from what can only be described as Americana at its best can be seen. Cheerleaders, Poms, the Football team, Marching Band, Class Games and Gags all played a hand in entertaining and firing up the student body. The best gag of the rally came as 5 special football players names were called to be seated on stools. They were asked to pass nerf footballs to the as quickly as possible. With this task completed the announcer asked the cheerleaders to assist in blindfolding the players with their hands. Each was the given the chance to catch a football in his lap. As a reward for such skill the announce told the crowd they would receive a kiss from a cheerleader while blind folded and each would have to identify whom had kissed him. As they sat blind folded by cheerleaders behind and waiting for the cheerleaders if front the players own mothers came in announced silently by cue cards to the audience. As the players waited each was kissed by his mother. The mother then stood behind their sons. When the players were un-blind folded they were asked whom had kissed them, puzzled they each pointed at a cheerleader and the announcer asked them to turn around and see whom had kissed them. Smiling mothers and dazed sons made for fun as the rally continued. In a special performance the Varsity Pom squad showed off a special number rehearsed with a few of the guys. Displayed at the Powder Puff game the whole student body had the opportunity to see them at the pep rally.
The Guy Girl Pom routine during the pep rally Friday. Swartz Creek Homecoming Day Parade. In grand tradition Swartz Creek held its annual Homecoming Day Parade Friday September 29. Juniors win over Seniors in Powder-Puff. Its homecoming week in Swartz Creek and the Lady Dragons form the Junior and Senior Classes kicked the week off with a thrilling game of powder-puff football Monday Night. The air was thick with anticipation as the first of the players in this game of role reversals entered the stadium gates. These were of course our attractive and talented cheerleaders. Guys from the Junior and Senior classes made up to look like cheerleaders. We were afraid to ask why some of the skirts fit so well. This comical band of entertaining young men showed their hard hours of practice during the game by cheering on the girls and the fans not to mention some of the unusual athletics required for among other things hand springs, cartwheels, leap frog, wheel borrow push and the oh so popular almost collapsing pyramid. Great job Guys. The senior girls Powder-puffers arrived early to the field for warm up confident in the outcome of the game. In sharp contrast the Juniors arrived on the field with the bare minimum of time to stretch out before the start of play. When asked about their late arrival coach Dave Gardner #4 on the varsity football team at Swartz Creek commented "We were working on our game and didn't want to give anything away during warm up." As the two teams cleared the field and the officials gathered together the team captains the start of the game neared Seniors receiving from the Juniors and we were off. The Seniors came on strong and placed the first 6 points on the score board followed by a successful 2 point conversion and the score was Seniors 8 Juniors zip. The Juniors rallied for their own touch down but failed to score on the 2 point conversion attempt. Score Seniors 8 Juniors 6. The momentum the Seniors started with slipped away as the juniors gritted their teeth and showed that hard work and fundamentals of play pay off. A second touch down and the tide had turned for the Seniors as the Juniors tipped the scale in their favor. Juniors 12 Seniors 8. During the ensuing quarters plays, time outs, calls and the occasional comment from the announcer about "Senior moments" could not regain the momentum the Seniors once held. While their team rallied to close a wide gap set by the Juniors The clock was ticking down. Sometimes it was ticking down when it shouldn't be as was pointed out by coaches, players, and finally officials. With the clock reset at 2:25 of game play at the officials request the score was close enough this could have been anyone's ball game. Juniors 26 Seniors 22. All the Juniors had to do was stop the Seniors and run out the clock, all the Seniors needed was one more touch down. As both teams met for the final few minutes of play the crowd and team members on the side lines watched. Hoping against all odds their side would do what needed to be done. Win the game. When the final buzzer sounded the score board reported the final tally Juniors win 26 to the Seniors 22. History in Swartz Creek had repeated itself yet again this year. And echo of last years game where the now Senior team, then Juniors had beaten the then Senior team. While the score board may keep a tally of points and reports the final count at the end of a time period, in the end both of these teams should be congratulated for turning in truly inspiring efforts. Over the course of 4 quarters each team had led the other. Each member of each team had played and tried there best to make their team successful. Hard work, dedication and a willingness to compete on the gridiron during Powder-Puff shows what makes the Swartz Creek Lady Dragons teams successful. These girls play as a team and with heart. Congratulations to both teams on a game well played. Have a wonderful homecoming and lets come together to cheer on our Varsity Dragon Football team to beat the Cav's this Friday night. Go Dragons!

Swartz Creek Kicks off Homecoming with Pride and Spirit Pep Rally! Wednesday Morning started wet and for a while it looked as though the Pride and Spirit Pep Rally at the football field might be cancelled. As the day progressed the weather dried and at 7:00PM the event designed to show both pride and spirit for our school got underway. While a light wind blew and the change in the color of trees told us fall and football season were really here nothing said it better than the Pride and Spirit rally that has fired up our Dragon Teams and fans in preparation for our homecoming game Friday night against Corunna. Pride and Spirit is the name and Wednesday nights gala event certainly showed just that. From the high school all the way down to kindergarten. Football players from our own Varsity Dragon team (now 3 and 2) down through the youth football programs, Cheerleaders of every size, age and description, Poms, Basketball, Swim, and a host of others. If you missed this this event you missed a great show. Among other high-lights at the event were the introductions to this years homecoming court. Freshman Princesses Danielle Adams Courtney Bouck Addison Brown
Sophomore Princesses Amy Hess Jaclyn Jewell Megan Webb
Junior Princesses Nicole Culver Amanda Pleshakov Morgan Streetman
Senior Princesses Sydnee Adams Kayla Dieck Jena Grantham Jordan Justice Lauren Renwick
